5Good to know

Registration in two places

You register with the Tax Agency (declaring your activity and VAT situation) and with social security (RETA). Both should be done before you start invoicing.

Your ongoing obligations

  • Quarterly VAT and income tax prepayments
  • A monthly social security contribution, based on your expected income
  • Proper invoices and records

New autónomos may qualify for reduced contributions at the start. Most people work with an accountant: see our accounting services in Spain.

Before you register

You need a NIE, a social security number and a Spanish bank account. A digital certificate makes everything easier.

6Frequently asked questions

Will you do my quarterly taxes too?

Ongoing tax returns are handled with a partner tax adviser. Ask for it in your quote request.
